Job Description

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Quality Inspector on a 18 month contract based in Redcar.

This role falls Inside IR35

Perform Quality inspections in accordance with project requirements as documented within the Project Quality Plan (PQP), procedures and relevant Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).

Quality Inspections typically cover goods receipt inspections, construction pre-assembly, assembly in process, mechanical/electrical discipline and final inspections and release prior to load-out. Daily inspection activities will include liaison with the customer’s inspectors and  other stakeholders, timely reporting results of inspections and following-up the rectification and close-out of non-conformities.

Responsibilities of the Quality Inspector: –

  • Proactively supporting the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programme and being constantly vigilant in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for self and others
  • Proactively support a positive Quality culture in the workplace and the proper implementation of the Project & Site Quality Plan, the Quality Rules and all supporting procedures at the work site
  • Ensuring compliance with quality requirements through inspection, incoming goods control, and quality walk-downs. You will take part in and contribute to improvement initiatives and Lessons Learned on internal quality-related activities
  • Familiarisation with all documents that prescribe the way in which work is done, what inspections and tests are required and the project’s inspection e-reporting system
  • Plan and conduct all inspections as instructed by the Site Construction Inspection Manager, the relevant inspection & test Plans (ITP) and supporting procedures
  • Ensure coordination of inspection activities in collaboration with the construction team and customer inspectors to meet all specified requirements
  • Record/report, analyse, find solutions, and verify implementation of non-conformities (NCRs) arising during inspections
  • Review and ensure all quality record documents are properly controlled
  • Support Completions and Commissioning personnel to track and manage the closure of punches on time
  • Ensure all component preservation procedures and routines are being actively managed
  • Collate material certification and control of certificates, handovers, documents etc. where required
  • Participate in audits as directed by the Site Construction Inspection Manager
  • Assist in the follow-up and close-out of Quality issues, non-conformities and customer complaints
  • Apply specialized Quality systems, equipment, tools and methods as directed by the Site Construction Inspection Manager

Requirements of the Quality Inspector: –

  • A technical/engineering (mechanical or electrical) education and qualification
  • Previous experience of working at an offshore construction site
  • Proven active experience in Quality in a Windfarm project environment or many years of similar experience in Oil & Gas / Nuclear projects may be considered
  • 5+ years of experience in a site inspector position working within a quality engineering, quality assurance, or Quality Control organisation
  • Highly desirable–NACE level II Coatings Inspector or equivalent (i.e., BGAS)
  • Experience with site safety and quality standards as well as good understanding of the ISO9001 and ISO14001 international standards (ideally implemented in fabrication/ assembly environment)
  • High level of quality awareness
  • Good understanding of fabrication/assembly/NDT/coatings techniques and technologies
  • Proactive member of a quality team willing and able to contribute positively and constructively to new ideas and initiatives – a team player
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customer and stakeholder reps. in a confident manner
  • Self-motivated individual who approaches work in an organised and well-coordinated way
  • Dependable, reliable and a responsible team member
  • A good level of physical fitness is necessary for this position as working conditions will be predominately in an outside environment with some considerable times working at heights
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Competent with Microsoft Office applications and mobile device apps
