Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Senior Electrical Project Manager on a 18-month contract based in Glasgow / Hybrid.

This role falls Outside of IR35

The Civils / Electrical Project Manager will be working on strategically business critical suite of BESS projects.This role is part of a new business stream, Major Projects and provides significant long-term growth potential. The delivery scope will initially be Civils before moving onto M&E in Q4 23 / Q1 24. The role can be home based with some hybrid working – site visits and liaison with the Projects Director face to face in Bristol. The Senior Project Manager is the “Project Owner”, the person who takes overall responsibility for the project, reporting to the Projects Director.

Responsibilities of the Senior Electrical Project Manager: –

  • Managing the day to day BESS project operational team.
  • Draft the overall Master Document Register with input and guidance from the Projects Director including Project Management Plan (PMP), Project Execution Plan (PEP), Stakeholder Management Plan (SMP), Comms Plan (CMP), Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) etc in line with PMI standards.
  • Mentoring the site based PM and Site Manager.
  • Weekly / Monthly Reporting to the Projects Director on operational activities towards project KPIs.
  • Be well-versed in all construction methodologies and have the ability to co-ordinate teams of various disciplines to achieve the best results.
  • Minimising M&E construction expenditure on the project wherever possible.
  • Enusre the appropriate application of the Company Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental assurance system and policies from a Civils and M&E Construction perspective.
  • Maintain and develop competence level and technical skills to ensure delivery to high standards.
  • Maintain reporting aligned to the project KPIs with key focus on Safety, Commercial and Financial performance.
  • Operational sign off at tender stage within the Major Projects Division, should it be necessary in the future.
  • Ensure that when a new project is appointed under your management, the contract key points within the database and all of its commercial files are confirmed by you as being read and understood within 2 weeks of the contract signing.
  • Having completed the previous point, determine and define the scope of work and project deliverables in cooperation with the Projects Director.
  • Assisting the Projects Director with the financial management of the project under your management relating to construction activities.
  • Assisting the Projects Director with Customer and subcontractor contract management.
  • Ensure close understanding of of the Civils and M&E subcontracts under your management and guiding the Site-based PM and Site Manager accordingly.

Requirements of the Senior Electrical Project Manager: –

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working as an Electrical Senior Project Manager for grid connections OR
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working as an Electrical Senior Project Manager in a Transmission and Distribution industry OR
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working within the HV industry as a Project Manager or other similar roles
  • Ideally formally qualified as a Project Manager e.g. APMP, PMP etc.
  • Proven experience working and interfacing with the DNO’s on projects.
  • Strong understanding of budget and cashflow management.
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong Microsoft Projects use. Smartsheets programme software in place. A project planner will support this role.
  • Ensure close cooperation with the Engineering / Design team where relevant to the Project execution phase.
  • The management of the project programme from a construction perspective.
  • Work closely with the Site-based Project Manager to deliver the projects to programme.
  • Ensure updated programmes are issued as part of the contract specific reporting requirements.
  • Predict resources required to complete each project to allow for portfolio resourcing.
  • Ensure that the project division of responsibilities is fully complete and regularly updated and you understand your responsibilities under the division of responsibilities document.
  • Work with the Site-based project manager to implement a project specific master deliverables schedule (PEP).
